The Basics Of Satellite Internet
Satellite broadband does not need a phone or cable of optic fibre to function. Its connectivity is through space stationed satellite. The internet thus procured has the speed 10-20 times higher compared to the usual phone one. To understand the concept better a disc and modem is installed at a premises. The user uses a computer or a laptop and clicks for information page. A code gets attached to the request through software. The request is forwarded to the Satellite Network Operations Centre

I agree with this satellite broadband is a great alternative especially in regions where there is no terrestrial infrastructure to support communications via cable. In Australia they have NewSat http://www.newsat.com/VSAT/broadband.html who also works in remote regions like in the Kimberley region.
